My lovely art teacher was able to get me a partial scholarship to Otis Art Institute, but I was never able to attend the school. Hallie advised my father that I would never make a living as an artist. So, I was sent to Sawyer School of Business for a six-week course to learn typing and other secretarial skills. I have used these skills all my life, and I continue to draw nearly everyday. I graduated at age sixteen.
