LIFE ON HAYWORTH AVENUE
When Mr. Cohn died, my grandmother sold the beach property. She bought a duplex in the 1000 block of South Hayworth Avenue, and we moved near her, to 1138 South Hayworth Avenue. Our home on Hayworth was on the upper level of a large, beautiful duplex, as my mother always was afraid to live on the first floor.
My mother furnished our home with great taste. We had beautiful prints and graphics decorating the walls. Our living room had a large couch with matching ottomans. They were covered in dark-red velvet, decorated

cushions. There were velvet drapes and lovely art nouveau-style standing lamps. It was all so comfortable and beautiful. When Paula Hyman was helping me decorate our present home, I described the couch and she managed to duplicate it perfectly.
